Background

Located just west of the Vine Middle School campus, Harriet Tubman Park serves as a vibrant focal point for the surrounding communities. The park includes four tennis courts, a basketball court, and picnic pavilions with access to the adjacent running track (part of the school) outside of school hours.

Project Description

in late 2018, Knoxville opened the Change Center directly across the street from Harriet Tubman Park increasing the visibility and creating new opportunities for use of this public space.

With the park already in use for some community based programming such as a tennis program, the City of Knoxville provided capital funding with a goal to provide a permanent restroom facility and ADA improvements for park access. Separate funding from the city will also provide for the four tennis courts to be resurfaced.
